Janette has always had a deep appreciation for art, a passion that has been with her since childhood. However, her artistic journey truly blossomed when she joined an art group under the guidance of renowned botanical artist Jennifer Small. This experience sparked a profound interest in botanical art, inspiring her to focus on capturing the intricate beauty of plants. Throughout her career, Janette has been fortunate to learn from a range of exceptionally talented artists who have shaped her skills and artistic vision. Among them are Barbara Duckworth, known for her mastery of watercolor techniques, and Susannah Blaxill, whose distinctive style has been a significant influence on Janette’s approach to botanical illustration. Over recent years, Janette has been actively involved in collaborative projects that highlight the natural beauty of her local environment. Working alongside a dedicated group of artists from Wollongong, she contributed to the creation of a florilegium—a collection of detailed botanical artworks—celebrating the rare and endangered species of the Wollongong Botanic Gardens. This ambitious project culminated in successful exhibitions which showcased the team’s meticulous efforts and brought greater awareness to the region’s unique flora. Janette continues to explore and refine her craft, combining her love of nature with a commitment to creating art that inspires and educates. Her work not only reflects her technical expertise but also her deep connection to the natural world, making her contributions to the field of botanical art both significant and enduring. |
