Margaret took up art at school and the interest has continued since that time. In the 80's she began oil painting, mostly landscapes and some flowers. Her memory of her grandmother's garden, where, as a small child she was allowed to pick blooms, is inspiration for some works. In 2009 she went for her first botanical art experience with Jenny Phillips, the well-known Melbourne artist and as a beginner couldn't believe that it took three days to paint a tulip. Since then, she has been painting with a group at the Australian National Botanic Gardens and exhibiting with them successfully since 2011. Two of her works have been purchased and by the Friends of the gardens,
