Janet is a professional artist, working in pencil. Her subjects are full of life and personality. Drawing flowers larger than life, creating their daily “life”, including the insects that live within the flowers is Janet’s inspiration for her drawings. Hakea laurina is a fascinating flower, hanging down under a layer of leaves, the buds and flowers are intricate and textured. The fluffy pods with smooth insides and lots of shiny stamen are beautiful to draw with pencil. Janet has included some bees to show the activity and life that hums within the flowers. Janet’ work has won many awards including- Artwork in the collection of the New York State Museum and the Roberson Museum and Science Centre, New York, USA. Commissions by Australia Post for stamp images released in 2006, 2009 and 2021 2023 Artwork featured on Gardening Australia show 2021 Wildlife Art Museum of Australia Excellence award Represented Australia in the World Wide Botanical Exhibition 2018 Janet also teaches and has e-books and e-workshops on colour pencil. |
