![]() | Tanya Hoolihan is a talented Natural History artist who creates stunning watercolour paintings of the flora and fauna in our natural world. Tanya has been passionate about art and nature since she was a child and has spent many years honing her skills to become one of the most highly respected artists in her field. Tanya’s paints primarily botanical subjects and her love for plants and flowers is evident in every brushstroke she makes. Her paintings are incredibly meticulous, capturing the intricate details of each petal, leaf, and stem with precision and accuracy. She has a keen eye for colour and composition, using her artistic talent to create beautiful, life-like representations of her chosen subject. Tanya’s artistic journey draws on her love of nature and gardening. She is constantly captivated by the beauty of the natural world and enjoys sketching and paint the bushland and the wildlife around her family home. “I am always amazed by the intricate detail, the underlying patterns and the subtle variation in colour that can be seen in each flower, bird and animal. Through my work I hope to inspire others to appreciate the beauty that is found in even the smallest of species in our natural world.” Tanya undertook a degree in Natural History Illustration through the University of Newcastle where she went onto complete a PhD. Since finishing her higher degree, Tanya has worked for several years as a freelance artist, creating illustrations for books, conducting workshops and painting a variety of subjects from the world around us for private commissions and as exhibition pieces. Today, Tanya's work is highly sought-after by collectors both in Australia and World-wide. Her paintings are exhibited in galleries and private collection. She has won numerous awards for her talent and dedication to the art of Botanical Illustration. Tanya currently holds the position as President of the Florilegium Society at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney. |
