Understanding Flowers with Tanya Scharaschkin

  • 10 Feb 2024
  • NatureArt Lab Studio, M16 Artspace, 21 Blaxland Crescent, Griffith, ACT
Flowers are beautiful and hard to ignore, but do you know what the different parts are and what their function might be? Explore flower structure in detail with botanist and artist Dr Tanya Scharaschkin!

During this one day workshop look at a variety of flower specimens to gain a comprehensive understanding of floral structure.  We will dissect and examine flowers with guidance from Tanya. Individual parts will be drawn separately and labelled with botanical terms. During the second half of the workshop, participants will create a beautiful ink drawing inspired by the elements of a flower.

We will be looking at a wide range of flowers including violas, prostanthera, nasturtium, crassula, roses, pea flowers, daisies and others that are available in flower at this time of the year.
