Sue Stuart

From childhood Sue has always loved plants and animals, and a strong  interest in art.

It wasn’t until she moved from Sydney to Tasmania in 2004, having purchased a vineyard that she discovered Botanical art and watercolour painting through adult education.

Since then she has continued to paint and develop her skills, exhibiting in Tasmania and interstate, including the prestigious ‘Botanica’ held annually at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney.

Sue has won awards for her work in Tasmania, and her work is held in private collections in Australia and New Zealand.

Sue is a member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia, and the Sydney Florilegium.

This delicate pink anemone is growing in my garden.

The contrast between the pink and green attracted me to this flower.

I decided to paint it slightly larger than life size.

I saw this exotic looking lily in the Royal Tasmanian Botanic Gardens, and HAD to paint it.

I was lucky enough to obtain a potted specimen from the gardens, so had a live specimen at home.

This specimen now lives in my garden.

Lots of photos and measurements were required before painting this delicate Tasmanian beauty.
