| Helen was a primary school teacher for many years. Now retired she is enjoying dabbling in Botanical Art and volunteering in the Wollongong Botanic Garden. With no formal art training she has gained skills, knowledge and inspiration through workshops with leading botanical artists. Helen works in graphite, watercolour and scraperboard combining her love of drawing with her interest in plants. She is currently working with a group of artists on a series of paintings of rare and endangered Illawarra plant species for a Wollongong Botanic Garden Florilegium. Helen’s work has been exhibited in Botanica in the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney, in the Botanical Art Society of Australia’s annual Flora exhibitions and in the 2018 World Wide Exhibition of Botanical Art in Canberra. She has work in private collections in Australia, USA, France and Malta. |
