    • Australian National Botanic Gardens Canberra

The Botanical Art Group at the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra have been busy preparing for their 17th annual exhibition entitled “Bush Fragrance.”

This year members were asked to suggest a theme and title.  Bush Fragrance was the most popular subject.

Members commented on the number and quantity of Australian native plants that are used to make the popular bush flower essences and aromas. Commercial products using Eucalyptus oil are well known,  while Australian sandalwood is valued by the perfume industry and is now grown commercially in Western Australia .

For many people familiar fragrances evoke powerful emotional memories and so it seemed appropriate to celebrate some of the native flora known for their perfume and aromas.

The exhibition will be held in the Visitors Centre opening on Saturday 6th April until Sunday 5th May from 9.30am to 4.30pm.  Autumn is a lovely time to visit Canberra with many of the trees changing colour and museums and galleries offering exhibitions.  We hope BASA members will come for a visit and take the time to see our exhibition at the Gardens..
