Abigail Parker

Abigail has been a frustrated artist since leaving High School. Retiring from full-time work (first teaching, then farming) finally gave her the opportunity to study Art, at TAFE and then through Open University. She is now developing her belated artistic career, primarily as a painter in watercolours and oils. Living in WA among Albany’s beauty and bio-diversity has inspired Abigail to combine her two great passions, Art and Environment, into an excellent working whole, which is steadily gaining her recognition. Recently, she was approached by local Aurora Magazine for an interview, which resulted in a really lovely article.

Abigail’s practise is centred firmly around Nature, and our world’s catastrophic environmental problems. She is intensely concerned with highlighting the plight of our increasingly endangered West Australian native species, and her statement pieces can be confronting. Her work is focused on the biodiversity of the Albany region, particularly rare and endangered flora and fauna, and she is currently undertaking a series of watercolour paintings of the tiny local native orchids.

Abigail is also into graphics and web-site design, and Social Media platforms, and she produces Photographic Prints and Greetings Cards, and a variety of unique Jewellery pieces.

All of Abigail’s artwork is available through selected art exhibitions, or directly through her website.

An active member of both the Albany Botanic Art Group and the Albany Art Group, Abigail regularly exhibits with both, and sells her work locally, interstate, and internationally. She is also a member of ArtSouthWA, the Botanical Art Society of Australia, and the Wildlife Art Society of Australasia
